That’s how we began working on the idea of the first ever FIS Run 2019!!
We decided to take ‘baby-steps’ organising 1.5 kms, 3 kms and 5 kms runs. Very soon we realised that organising a marathon run was no easy “run”!!!! But then when was FIS ever known to give up? An idea was seeded which then germinated and blossomed in just 15 days!!!
We had dedicated teams of management, teachers, staff members and senior students handling registrations (who were prepared to handle 350 to 400 not a whopping 700 who decided to test whether we could handle it!), cheering squads, volunteers at water stations, food stalls, first-aid stations, finishing lines, those handling promotional matters, those mapping the routes, getting permission from the traffic cops ..
But that was just routine …
To spice up, we had cheering squads with pom-poms wearing “Pagdis (turbans)”, “Nathnis (nose rings)” and “Shades” and running in “Saris”.
The energetic Zumba team, charged-up the participants to gear them up for their runs!
...we finally completed the FIRST EVER FIS RUN 2019 WITH SMILES ALL OVER OUR FACES, CHESTS SWELLED WITH PRIDE, HEADS HELD HIGH, HEARTS THUMPING IN EXCITEMENT & FEET POUNDING AND ACHING WITH SWEET PAIN.
