labs

The school has two student laboratories with 30 computers in each lab. Our students learn to use the latest available softwares and technology. To help students produce final products for presentations and group projects, both the labs are well equipped and Wi-Fi enabled. The lab is also used by teachers as a teaching space, where they put together the power of the internet and the computer to deliver a lesson. The children are taught how to use technology as a tool not only to improve their basic skills but to go beyond it and use it to every practical purpose. Therefore from blogs to presentations and from web designing to e-magazines, our children do it all.

Teachers use their iPads on a daily basis to conduct research, to produce projects and curriculum products, and to enhance classroom presentations. Wi - Fi is available across the entire campus.

SCIENCE LABS

FIS has well-designed separate science labs for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They are fully equipped as per the guidelines laid by CBSE. These Labs facilitate first-hand experience of learning different concepts of science and in developing scientific reasoning through experiments.

SOCIAL STUDIES Labs

Have you always felt that Social Studies is all about pages and pages of dates and facts?

Well, how about learning it by excavating through an archaeological kit, taking a ride on a safari, taking a peep into the past at the 'flash back' corner and getting a feel of the realms of the past by listening to historical stories?

That's what we do at the FIS Social Studies Lab. safari and puzzles like 'time line' as well as jigsaws to solve. Our children get a feel of the past by learning how to make replicas of antique seals and coins, scriptures, antique tools and jewellery. They make models and replicas of artefacts and form their own historical museum. They also take part actively in debates and discussions that make them adept at tackling day to day problems.

As someone once aptly said, 'In a world that demands independent and co-operative problem solving to address complex social, economic, ethical and personal concerns, social studies is as basic for survival as reading, writing and computing.'

MATH LAB

Does logic confound you, analysis bore you and reasoning baffle you? Then you must come and visit our Math Lab.

Students learn mathematics best when they understand the concepts behind it and the 'why' of Math.

With this in mind, our Math Lab was set up with a number of practical tools that provide an opportunity for the students to understand, internalize, discover and verify the basic mathematical and geometrical concepts through concrete objects and practical applications.
Our Math Lab has a collection of more than 150 games and activities in the form of coloured card games, board games and manipulatives which help the students understand concepts and develop their problem solving skills of Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry necessary to stimulate and challenge the students in all areas of math. Students have fun as they practice the basic skills of math.

Our Math Lab supports and augments the investigative approach that we adopt in high school classes. Through the investigations, students discover many important mathematical principles themselves. In the process, they come to value their ability to succeed at mathematics. They realise that they can recreate their discoveries should they forget a fundamental concept. Furthermore, they develop their abilities to continue enjoying, discovering and learning about mathematics.

Our Math Lab enables students to gain knowledge for a lifetime.

LANGUAGE LAB

English is a funny language; that explains why we have 'noses that run and feet that smell'!
'If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth?' — Author Unknown

This is why the Language Lab at FIS has a plethora of fun filled, ready to use activities and games that help our children absorb the subtleties and intricacies of this language. Crosswords, word searches, snakes and ladders with antonyms and synonyms, scrambled words, word origins, word puzzles and literary activities like spelling bee, dramatization, appreciation of great prose and poetry as well as grammar games such as scavenger hunting for nouns or playing 'lost and found' for adjectives, are all a part of what our children look forward to during the language lab classes.

They develop a spirit of friendly competition as they deliberate and debate on a wide range of topics; this helps them to think objectively and critically.

Listening skills are honed by a number of activities such as 'What's missing?' or 'What's wrong with it?' or taped extracts of discussions, news reading, and conversations etc. which help the children explore the nuances of language even further.

Samuel Johnson once said, "Language is the dress of thought," and we at FIS believe that our children should be dressed appropriately for all occasions.
