The key word that features high on any human being's list is HOPE. More so for a teacher. We deal with little beings; gentle, developing minds, each one of who is receptive to a unique ministration.
It does not put us off the task if a child is not responding. We try again and again. In very rare instances do we need special help. We believe in ourselves, we HOPE for the best outcomes.
It is a delight to see our little learners blossom and come into their own. The feeling is akin to how a parent feels when their babies take their first steps...but we have to let go as they all pass out of the teacher's hands into the world, literally.
Students need to explore their areas of interest, specialise in them and turn them into their strengths.
We teachers help them discover themselves as they go through the following experiences in school:
Life in a school for a teacher-facilitator is everything to do with discovering and rediscovering, constantly seeking practical solutions, facing the challenges offered by the newer generations and conglomerating the best of the various methods known in the teaching learning process in order to produce best results.
Having worked with FIS for many years, I have seen how the school has turned into oneof the most sought after schools in Bangalore. We aim to develop the best that is latent in children, and to prepare them for the challenges of the changing world through the encouragement of self-discipline, high academic achievements and physical fitness. Every student receives individual/personal attention and thrives in an atmosphere which is conducive to learning. We are constantly upgrading ourselves to the needs of the changing times and actively seeking tobring in skilled and dedicated teaching faculty to strengthen our community of learners. We focus on weeding out the doctrinal method which is surely and steadily giving way to learning through activities. Children are also encouraged to go beyond the textbook by doing research on the topics covered in class. Our assessments are designed in a way that discourages rote learning. Our Class X Board Results have been excellent and we are aiming for the same with Class XII too.
"There is a veil through which I cannot see, there is a door to which I have no key" - Omar Khayyam So began our journey a few years ago, not sure of what lay behind the veil. We have only one goal in mind - to enable every child who walks in through our gates, to DARE TO DREAM beyond their horizons. When our little ones enter the Primary level after thoroughly enjoying themselves with our Pre Primary teachers, their hands need to be held to help them settle down to a full day of school. Over a period of five years they are challenged in innumerable ways, to be a thinker, to be a leader, to be creative, to be independent and most importantly to make the right choices. Irrespective of where they find themselves they must be able to hold their own proudly and confidently. Only then have we found the key in the truest sense.
Our Pre Primary programme in FIS provides an atmosphere that nurtures an early enthusiasm for learning, fosters each child's curiosity and creativity by empowering him or her to question and think out of the box. Our unique activity based environment addresses every child's developmental needs be it social, emotional, cognitive or physical. We have a non-competitive environment wherein children are encouraged to do their best rather than compete with others. Our Pre Primary not only prepares children for formal schooling and instils values but also kick-starts the process of grooming them physically, emotionally and mentally for the road ahead.
